This painting is kind of about ageing and that perceived sense of lack that society shoves down our throat all the time: that the more you age, the more you lose your “sparkle” or shine… Or the less desirable you become…. Or the less fun you can expect to have (mostly because of the decreased desirability thing). It’s such a stupid concept and yet it persists, to the point that it makes me feel like we’re being doomed to a future spent perpetually fighting against an undetectable enemy that costs us loads of money and decreases our sense of self worth with every passing year… and for the rest of our life?? It’s so grim! And stupid!
Anyway, this is a painting I did in response to this issue that’s been plaguing my brain lately.
